Overseas students applying to Tunghai University are divided into International Students, Overseas Chinese Students, Hong Kong and Macao Students, and Mainland Chinese Students. The regulations, application process, tuition fees, scholarships, and available programs may differ depending on each student status. Please read and understand the latest rules and regulations to confirm whether your student identification is correct. After our inspection, if you fail to comply with the rules and regulations, the admission will be canceled, the enrollment status will be canceled and the qualification to graduate will be revoked and we will not provide any form of academic qualification.

International Degree Students

  1. Applicants that wish to apply as an international student must meet the requirements stated in the “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan”.
  2. All individuals of foreign nationality, who never had a R.O.C. citizenship and do not possess an overseas Chinese student status at the time of their application, are qualified to apply for admission as an international student.
  3. You hold both R.O.C. nationality and a foreign nationality, must have never had household registration in Taiwan, and in the immediate past, have resided overseas continuously for at least 6 years.
  4. You currently hold a foreign nationality and used to hold R.O.C. nationality, but have renounced your R.O.C. nationality with the approval of the Ministry of the Interior on a date at least eight full years before your application. And, in the immediate past, have resided overseas continuously for at least 6 years.
  5. An international student applying to study at an educational institution in Taiwan is limited to only applying once. (For bachelor's degree or lower level program)
  6. If an international student came to Taiwan to undertake a bachelor's degree or lower level program and stayed for less than one year, for some reason then discontinued their studies or forfeited their student status, that student may lodge another application to come to Taiwan to study, but only one such re-application is permitted. If the international student has stayed in Taiwan for more than one year, he/she can only apply through "transfer".

 

Overseas Chinese Students

  1. A person’s overseas Chinese student status must be validated by the Overseas Compatriots Affairs Commission (OCAC).
  2. Applicants that wish to apply as an overseas Chinese student must meet the requirements stated in the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan”.
  3. Applicants that wish to apply as an overseas Chinese student must a person of Chinese descent and has obtained permanent or long-term residency overseas.
  4. And, was born and had resided overseas until the present time, or has been residing overseas for six or more consecutive years in the immediate past (eight or more consecutive years if the person is applying to a university department of medicine, dentistry, or Chinese medicine).

 

Hong Kong & Macao Students

  1. A person’s overseas Chinese student status must be validated by the Overseas Compatriots Affairs Commission (OCAC).
  2. Applicants that wish to apply as an overseas Chinese student must meet the requirements stated in the “Regulations for Hong Kong and Macao Residents Studying in Taiwan”.
  3. Have a resident of Hong Kong or Macau, and have obtained permanent residence permits for Hong Kong and Macau
  4. Have resided in Hong Kong, Macau or offshore continuously for more than 6 years (8 years for applicants that wish to apply to a department of medicine, dentistry or Chinese medicine).

 

Mainland Chinese Students

  1. Must be from Mainland China and are registered in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hubei or Liaoning.
  2. Mainland Chinese Students must apply through the University Entrance Committee for Mainland Chinese Students (UECMCS), and should contact said committee regarding any admission inquiries.
